Chronic Low Back Pain and Osteoarthritis

Help test an investigational study drug that could manage certain types of pain. You may take part in this study if you are at least 18 years old and have:

Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee or hip with pain for at least 1 year; OR
Chronic low back pain for at least 3 months.

Also, you must not have had either (1) surgery for low back pain in the past 6 months or (2) knee or hip replacement. We will review your medical history with you at your first visit. You must visit our offices 7 times and you will receive 2 telephone calls over 6 to 8 weeks. All study-related visits, testing and study drug will provided at no cost.

Postherpetic Neuralgia

Postherpetic neuralgia is a painful condition that may occur after experiencing shingles (pain along the course of a nerve followed by a group of painful, blistered lesions). Postherpetic neuralgia causes moderate to severe pain and burning in the area where the shingles occurred. This type of pain is very difficult to treat and sometimes lasts months to years after the initial outbreak.

Genova Clinical Research, Inc., is conducting a research study of an investigational medication vs. placebo (an inactive substance) for postherpetic neuralgia. There are up to 12 office visits over a 21 week period. Qualified participants will receive study medications (drug or placebo), study related physicals and lab work at no charge. Compensation may be available to qualified participants for each completed visit for time and travel expenses.

If you are interested in this study you should:

Be at least 18 years of age
Have postherpetic neuralgia for at least 3 months
Not have had cancer in the last 5 years (except treated basal cell cancer or in situ cervical cancer)
Not have any severe acute or chronic medical condition that may increase the risk of study participation.
