The physician medical directors and other research staff are available at Genova full time to serve patients and facilitate monitors. Genova Clinical Research has a unique, experienced team with an unrivaled reputation in clinical research.

Arnold Adriaanse — CEO

Arnold Adriaanse has more than 25 years of experience developing and successfully managing global high-tech sales, marketing, professional services and product organizations. His assignments include working for companies such as Oracle Corporation, Aspect Communications, Novell Inc. and eGain Communications.

Mr. Adriaanse's career also includes key management positions at CAP/Gemini and AES/Lanier. He has lived and worked in Europe and the United States and conducted business in over 20 countries throughout the world. He is co-founder and CEO of Genova Clinical Research in Tucson, AZ. A Dutch native, he is a graduate of Eerde International College in the Netherlands with a degree in Economics.

Leah M. Schmidt, D.O., CPI — Medical Director

Dr. Schmidt has more than a decade of experience with Phase II – IV clinical research studies. She has overseen more than 100 clinical studies for leading pharmaceutical companies—most of them as Principal Investigator. She has worked in the clinical research industry for over 10 years and has maintained quality data by initiating her own quality assurance program. She has established an excellent reputation within the pharmaceutical research industry. Dr. Schmidt received her certification as a Certified Physician Investigator (CPI) in April 2006.

Dr. Schmidt has a doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Rockhurst College, Kansas City, MO. She began practicing in 1984 and has been in Tucson since 1987. She is affiliated with the American Osteopathic Association. As a family practitioner her special interests include rheumatology, women's health and diabetes.

Dale Levinsky, M.D. — Associate Medical Director

Dr. Levinsky has served as a principal investigator and sub-investigator for 5 years. She has over 15 years of clinical experience. She has practiced in Tucson since 2001. Prior to this she practiced in Yucca Valley, California and at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, California. She has special interests in women's health, dermatology and behavior issues. She has also taught medical students at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Levinsky has a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She also received her Medical Degree at the University of Arizona. She completed her residency in Family Practice and Community Medicine at UC Davis in Merced, California. She is board certified in family medicine and is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Rachel Gilbert, BS, CCRC — Certified Clinical Research Coordinator

Ms. Gilbert has more than 2 years of experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator and is involved in more than 20 Phase II and III clinical trials. Ms. Gilbert received her bachelor's degree in bioengineering with a molecular and cellular emphasis in 2004 from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Prior to this she interned in the biochemistry department at the University of Arizona for a year.

Barbara Nunez, MA — Certified Clinical Research Coordinator

Ms. Nunez has worked in the medical field for over 8 years and in the clinical trials industry for over 6 years. She has worked on phase II, III, and IV research studies as a clinical research coordinator, research assistant and recruitment specialist. Mrs. Nunez received certification as a Medical assistant in July 2001. She has received training as a Clinical Research Coordinator and has successfully completed several clinical trials at Genova.

Cindy Stein — Business Development Manager

Mrs. Stein has worked in the clinical research industry for more than 9 years in the area of regulatory and was promoted to the position of Business Development Manager in October 2007. Her years of experience in the regulatory area have resulted in many key business relationships, aiding to her effectiveness in business development. Mrs. Stein's communication skills and attention to detail have gained her an excellent reputation with personnel in the pharmaceutical industry. Her main objectives are to identify new clinical trial opportunities and promote the research capabilities of Genova Clinical Research for the consideration of site selection.

Carrie Wooters — Patient Recruiter

Carrie recently graduated from Carrington College with a Diploma for Medical Administrative Assistant. After completing her externship at Genova Clinical Research she was hired for our Patient Recruiting staff. Her full time employment was effective in July 2010. Before attending Carrington College, Carrie spent 13 years in the hospitality industry.

Kenneth W. Wilkins, CRA II, CRC — Senior Director

Mr. Wilkins has 40 years of experience in the medical field and more than 15 years of experience with Phase II – IV clinical research studies. He has been involved with more than 100 clinical research studies for leading pharmaceutical companies as a coordinator, site director and clinical research associate. Mr. Wilkins' high standards for work quality, patient safety and communication are why he continues to maintain an excellent reputation within the pharmaceutical research industry.

Mr. Wilkins received his medical training while serving as a Hospital Corpsman for 25 years in the United States Navy. His training included Nursing, EKG Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, Combat Medicine, and Laboratory Technician. He received his education and certification as an Independent Duty Hospital Corpsman through George Washington University. Mr. Wilkins is an active member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) and the Drug Information Association (DIA).

Martin Adriaanse — Co-Founder, Director of Operations

Mr. Adriaanse is a key founder and has been instrumental in the development of Genova's business model. Currently, as Genova's Director of Operations, he is responsible for Finance & Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology and Facilities. Prior to Genova he developed and managed various media production facilities in California and Arizona.

Mr. Adriaanse holds a degree in media communications.

Misty Adriaanse, BS, CCRC — Director of Training & Safety

Mrs. Adriaanse has been in the medical field for 9 years. She is nationally recognized by many leading pharmaceutical companies as a certified "Top Enrolling Coordinator" and has received enthusiastic reviews from every one of her Clinical Research Associates.

Mrs. Adriaanse received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with a triple minor in Chemistry, Mathematics and French from the University of Arizona. She then taught at a Junior college for 7 years. She is certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).

Clair Roney, CMA — Certified Clinical Research Coordinator

Mrs. Roney has 5 years of clinical research experience as a coordinator conducting Phase II, III and IV clinical trials. She has been involved with more than 50 clinical trials. Her attention to detail and commitment to the patients, Genova and the sponsors is exceptional.

Mrs. Roney received Certification as a Medical Assistant in January 2005. Prior to this time she worked for 10 years as a Special Education Assistant.

Christina Bohard, MA — Certified Clinical Research Coordinator

Christina Bohard has been a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals for the past 4 years. Prior to that, she received her medical assistants certificate through Tucson College and worked for many local doctors in the areas of family care, hand and plastic surgery, wound care, and podiatry. Ms. Bohard has received extensive internal training as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator and her experience in clinical trials include hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, memory, dermatology, OAB, and several other indications since joining Genova Clinical Research, Inc.

JoAnn Wilkins, AA — Receptionist/Patient Recruiter

Mrs. Wilkins has worked in the clinical research field for more than 9 years as a receptionist and patient recruiter for Phase II, III and IV clinical trials. Her commitment to patient communication creates a welcome attitude to anyone who walks through the doors at Genova.

Mrs. Wilkins received her Associate of Arts from Adam State University and Business degree from Coleman College.
